I like a lot of depth to my stories – action, adventure, romance, suspense and if possible a few cadavers. I prefer historicals to contemporaries and I don’t mind learning something either.
I found it all in Jillian Kent’s Ravensmoore Chronicles.
Book One – Secrets of the Heart
Book Two – Chameleon
And hurrah! Book Three is coming.
Secrets of the Heart’s characters Madeline and her now husband Devlin appear in book two as we meet Devlin’s younger sister, Lady Victoria. He calls her ‘Snoop’ for her strong curiosity. Victoria’s years of weakened health taught her to be a practical observer of human interactions, and she loves a good mystery.
While her brother the doctor (Lord Devlin’s “trade” is not popular with the peers…) looks to the health of the victim, his friend Witt sets about to solve the crime before more of Parliament’s members are harmed –as threatened by the villain, who goes by the name Talon. The handsome Lord Witt, a spy, is charmed by Lady Victoria’s enthusiasm, bravery and beauty and here we have our hero and heroine.
I thoroughly enjoyed the pacing and suspense and setting. Jillian Kent takes us deeper into the conditions for patients in early 19th century insane asylums. She writes lovely prose and characters and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historicals, historical romance, suspense and mystery. A perfect package!
Congratulations Jill, on your second book and its outstanding reviews.
I was given this book by the publisher but was at no obligation to provide a positive review. Just happens I love it. To learn more about Jillian Kent, visit her guest post with us from this previous Wednesday or her Website JILLIAN KENT.
