Anita Mae Draper

Anita Mae Draper lives on the prairie of southeast Saskatchewan, Canada where she writes cowboy stories set in the Old West. TV westerns and Saturday afternoon picture shows fueled Anita's love of the Old West at a young age. Inspired by what she read and saw, she began to write her own pioneer westerns as a teenager, only stopping long enough to raise a family and serve a 20 yr stint in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Her Christian faith is reflected in her stories of forgiveness and redemption as her characters struggle to find their way to that place we call home.

Sweet Love Grows
by Anita Mae Draper:
Amelia Cord never doubted her father's love despite her illegitimacy. When he dies without a will, handsome by-the-books attorney Jeremy Moore produces a vindictive legal heir who demands her eviction without an inheritance. Can sweet love grow in spite of the odds?

Sweet Love Grows is one of 9 novellas found in The American Heiress Brides Collection by Barbour Publishing, January 2017, where nine wealthy women struggle to find love in a society that values money first.

Romantic Refinements, the 2nd novella in Austen in Austin Volume 1 by WhiteFire Publishing, released January 2016.

The novellas in the Austen in Austin series (Vol 1 and 2) are based on Jane Austen's stories Texas-style.

Volume 1 is available to order now, with Volume 2 following late this summer/early autumn.

Anita's Pinterest site includes story boards for Romantic Refinements  as well as a general board with images used by the different authors for all of the stories in Austen in Austin Volume 1.

These images show glimpses of the stories as well as how the authors envisioned the characters during the creation process.

Here We Come A-Wassailing is a short story set in present day Divide County, North Dakota, and is found in A Cup of Christmas Cheer Volume 4 Heartwarming Tales of Christmas Present, Guideposts Books, October 2014.

Anita's short story, Here We Come A-Wassailing, was a Word Guild's Word Awards 2015 finalist.

Anita's Here We Come A-Wassailing Pinterest Board shows images to help bring this story alive.

In the past few years, Anita's love of genealogy and research into her Ontario ancestry inspired her to broaden her historical window.

Riding on a Christmas Wish, is a short story set in rural Edwardian Ontario and is found in A Cup of Christmas Cheer Volume 1 Tales of Faith and Family, Guideposts Books, October 2013.

Anita's Riding on a Christmas Wish Pinterest Board shows her vision of Riding on a Christmas Wish as well as images surrounding the 1911 setting.

Anita's Website has several pages for anyone interested in history, in particular her Author Memories blog shows the Edwardian life in York County, Ontario and Saskatchewan through a series of actual letters, photographs and newspaper snippets from 1911 to 1919. As Anita comes across people and places mentioned in the letters, she researches them to provide a deep historical view of this time period as experienced by her husband's grandparents who were born in Ontario and settled in the Canadian West.
