I grew up reading those and still try to find them at the library. I've seen some publishers consider the Regency back as far as the French Revolution, since the Greecian style gowns were introduced--and made popular by Josephine even then, as she was a famous hostess--in the 1790s. The changes in the world were definitely on a fast-track by then. Thoughts on this?
