Hola!
Saguaro Sunset was a successful test for me. This is my first contemporary novella and a quick break from my upcoming mystery novel due out this summer. It worked. I plotted and wrote it in record time. And--yay!--I love this story, and so have readers!
~~No ice cream sandwich is as sweet as a
long-delayed sunset kiss~~
Friday night’s first phone call was the answer to Teresa Scott’s career dreams. Before she can celebrate, a second call informs her of her sister’s accident and puts Teresa in ‘the driver’s seat’ of Frosty Fingers Food Truck during the Tucson Festival of Books. Determined to keep her sister’s business out of the red, Teresa hides the painful disappointment of giving up her dream.
Fellow accountant Alan Davis sticks his do-gooder nose in, hanging around to help Teresa, the woman he’s adored since forever, not knowing the coveted board position he's just accepted is the one she had to give up.
Nice Guy Alan isn’t really Teresa’s type, but she’s won over by his humor, adorable smile, and ice cream scooping skills. As his presence become irreplaceable, she sheds the hardened layers of her heart. Just when it’s clear she needs him in her life, Alan has to face his biggest regret and honor an old promise. Will losing this chivalrous knight in a snowman costume break Teresa’s vulnerable heart?

Arizona, if you haven't noticed, is one of those places I talk about so much, I should receive recognition from the tourism board. Desert Duet, Starlight Serenade and Why Not--my last three novellas--are all set in this remarkable state.
Saguaro Sunset is part of the STATE FLOWER collection from Forget Me Not Romances, and takes place in Tucson during the Tucson Festival of Books and highlights Saguaro National Park. We just missed the book festival last weekend, but there's ice cream left over, so choose a flavor. Dish or waffle cone?
Minty Chip--our signature flavor.
Wildcat Country--sugary, salty kettle-corn-flavor ice cream. Really.
Mountain Man--peanut butter crunch with white chocolate chunks
Old Pueblo Pistachio--we're nuts about this flavor
Cactus Crunch--strawberry with dark chocolate and walnuts
Arizona Gold--French vanilla only better
Cowboy Kisses--coffee flavored ice cream with swirls of chocolate wafer and coffee bean crunch
'Zona Zombie--dead right, our cappuccino and fudge combo is to die for
Desert Delight--toffee ice cream with brickle bits and prairie dog wishes
What's your favorite?

Congratulations on the release of Saguaro Sunset! I LOVE this story!
ReplyDeleteAs for my favorite flavor, oy--tough call. I tend to like chocolate/nut varieties, or something with fresh berries in it. But there used to be a chain called Swensen's that had a White Russian ice cream that I loved. I didn't know a White Russian is an alcoholic drink (and the ice cream certainly wasn't alcoholic), but it was delicious. I wouldn't mind a pint of that again.
Congratulations, Deb! LOVE the blurb about the book. So cute!
ReplyDeleteHmmm . . . favorite flavor? German chocolate. Or rocky road. Or cookies and cream. Or just plain chocolate. Or fudge ripple. Or strawberry, even if it isn't chocolate. :D
Congrats, Deb. I remember your trip to the desert and how excited you were with everything you saw. Love those images you posted on it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite ice cream flavor is Rolo because I love the mix of chocolate and caramel, and then anything with nuts added comes close behind.
Here's a fun story though...I was 17 and living on my own and enjoying my first taste of Tiger Tiger ice cream while waiting for my clothes to dry at a neighborhood laundromat. When my clothes were dry, I folded them and bundled them into a large green garbage bag for the walk home. Several people stared as I walked, but I thought it was because they were wondering what was in the bag I hugged to my chest. Back in my apartment however, I glanced in the mirror and saw my mouth ringed with black. Yes, Tiger Tiger stains from all the smacking and licking. :D
Thank you Susie and DeAnna! Hmmmm. I don't think I've ever had a berry ice cream that could match fresh strawberries on top of vanilla ice cream. German Chocolate ice cream does sound good, and I don't think I've ever seen it anywhere. I think my favorite would be a caramel, or chocolate/peanut butter. We have a home-made ice cream shop near us and they are always experimenting.
ReplyDeletethanks so much for commenting!
Hi Anita! That's a great story. I've never heard of TigerTiger either, but the staining happens a lot with the blue ice creams. Thankfully those were not popular until I was too adult to eat them. Bubble Gum flavor? no thanks! So far, I've visited enough of Arizona in my life that I have been to all the spots I've written about. The one place I haven't visited (and used as a setting) is Austin, TX.
ReplyDeleteFrom the ice cream flavours mentioned, I'll pick the mountain man one. I'd have a hard time picking a favourite ice cream though: I like the tiger tiger Anita mentioned and the rolo, and chocolate peanut butter, and... A local ice cream shop had a cream cheese ice cream that was amazing!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on this release!

Thanks for stopping in, Elaine!
DeleteI had a blast coming up with the names while trying not to limit the flavors to my favorite blends! Cream cheese, huh? wow. I am absolutely nuts over graham cracker crusts, so if they could blend that in, I'd be picking that one first!
Congrats on the release! As far as ice cream, it really depends on what I'm in the mood for, but right now I'm craving strawberry cheesecake from Ben and Jerry's.
ReplyDeleteThanks Britney! I can't imagine sticking to one flavor, either. I remember thinking Neapolitan was quite exciting when I was a kid and strongly disliking maple walnut. I think that will always remind me of my grandmother. It was a 'grown up flavor'!
DeleteCongratulations on this release!
ReplyDeleteI love Double fudge chocolate Moosetrack icecream. And just plain vanilla. :)
Would love to be entered for the giveaway! :)
Thanks!
Thanks, Raechel! You'll definitely be in the drawing. Double fudge... yummy but I don't usually eat it in the evening in case it keeps me awake (the caffeine as much as the sugar). I used to be very sensitive to caffeine and didn't eat chocolate for about 30years. I know... Awful!
DeleteWould love to win this book. I love hot fudge sundae! Oh my I can hurt myself on it. Lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway
Ha ha. Just smelling it makes me happy! Thanks for commenting, Brenda
DeleteBrenda, please message me on facebook (Debra Breese Marvin) if you see this. THanks!
DeleteOoh! That sounds like a good one!
ReplyDeleteAs for ice-cream, that Desert Delight sounds...well...delightful! I'll have a waffle cone thanks :-) Hope it doesn't melt before it gets here...
Yes the shipping time could be a problem! Thanks Katie!
DeleteMy favorite ice cream is chocolate English toffee from Aggie ice cream (our local university). It's so yummy. I also love raspberry cheesecake ice cream. I'd love to win a copy of your book.
ReplyDeleteHi Winnie! That sounds just too amazing. I LOVE toffee and chocolate. wow.
ReplyDeletethanks for commenting!
Sounds like a great read.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cheryl! The story surprised me. It went a little deep when I was hoping for something light and fun. It has a lot of humor but ... yup, it surprised me.
DeleteI'd love to see Arizona someday!! It looks so beautiful! As for me, I love the sound of Mountain Man ice cream. I love all things chocolate and peanut butter! It reminds me of the white chocolate Reese's peanut butter cups. Yum!!
ReplyDeleteI live in NY, but I honestly have lost track of how many times I've been to AZ since the seventies! So, I've seen pretty much every part of the state. It's so lovely. The colors are more intense. Must be that lack of humidity! And I love seeing mountains no matter where I am. Oh, and yes, I'm glad you liked this flavor. It might be my favorite. Thanks Karen!
