When I read an Irene Hannon story, I have come to expect a nice romance with some “edge of your seat” suspense and a bit of sleuthing to figure out who the villain is. While there are a few suspenseful moments and a sweet, but barely there, romance in this story, I struggled a bit with this one.
I wanted more suspense, more romance, and more guessing as to who the villain was. Normally when I read a romantic suspense book, I am accusing everyone who isn’t guilty. LOL. I had this one figured out pretty quickly, which took away from the story. I also had trouble connecting with the main characters for some reason. I loved Jack in book one, Into the Fire, so I was really looking forward to his story, but sadly, this one fell a bit flat.
Although Over the Edge is book 2 in the Undaunted Courage series, you can easily read it as a standalone story. I’m sure others will love the characters and the suspense this story brings.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. 3 stars.
