TRIXI'S REVIEW:
"Our worth is found in God, not the good or bad things we do." ~Aubrey
This is my favorite quote from the book because it’s a lesson Nathan learns as the story progresses. He might have been an outlaw in the past, but realizing his mistakes he tries to run away. In spite of this, he’s set his mind to be a better person, especially now that he has a young niece to provide and care for. Taking a job protecting the pregnant widowed Aubrey Willott helps in achieving that task. But danger lurks around the corner in ways neither one anticipates and Nathan finds himself falling for the beautiful widow. Can he protect both her and her unborn child before it’s too late?
I really enjoyed this story and the characters Kylee created! It’s full of exciting adventure, intrigue, mystery, and just enough danger to keep the reader turning the pages to see what happens. I also loved seeing their romance play out and anticipated their happily-ever-after ... ok, maybe I peeked at the end to make sure there was one (lol). It’s because I was rooting for them throughout the whole book!
The author also incorporated historical facts (you can read those at the end in the Historical Notes section) which I was pleased to learn. And finally, the faith thread is much appreciated. In the quote I include in my review, it also helped remind me that my past choices don’t make me unworthy of God’s love. I love that Aubrey plays a part in reminding Nathan of this truth too! The whole story was enjoyable, fascinating and was a great way to escape reality for a few hours (or days).
