The Mother Road Book Release Party!

No "First Sale Party" or "First Book" for Inky Jennifer AlLee-- today we celebrate the release of Jen's third book, THE MOTHER ROAD from Abingdon Fiction

Within the course of a week, Natalie is dumped by her husband, receives an urgent call home from her father, and discovers her estranged sister is pregnant. A road trip on Route 66 may not help, but it sure couldn't hurt. Or so Natalie thinks, until Lindsay's boyfriend starts stalking them.
Will their trip down the Mother Road bring the two sisters closer together or turn out to be the biggest wrong turn yet

Congratulations Jen for the great reviews already rolling in.

Readers, Join us this week to learn more about The Mother Road. Leave a comment over the next few days on any of our JEN posts to be in a drawing for The Mother Road!

Historic Route 66 is an iconic trip down America's memory lane. Crossing eight states and such cities as Chicago, St. Louis, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, Kingman AZ, and Los Angeles, Route 66 is pure Americana. And what's better way to celebrate than to go for comfort food, Route 66 Diner style!  Josh Holloway will be taking your orders...

Cheeseburgers and Fries, Chicken Fried Steak, Salisbury Steak, Navajo Fry Bread, Texas Pot Roast, Fried Chicken, Black Bean soup? Chocolate Milk Shake! These are just some of the offerings along "America's Main Street".

Our waiters will be around with refreshments. If you're not hungry enough for the blue plate special, how about some homemade dessert and coffee?
Ewan MacGregor - he's rethinking vegetarianism, I guess... because a cheeseburger and fries  platter is just too hard to resist
the Classic Banana Split --when's the last time you had one?
Hugh " top of the romantic comedy heap" Grant

Peach Shortcake for Everyone!!!

And just because I  (Deb) don't have a book coming out and neither of of us are getting any younger... Hugh Jackman

I just had to bring back this, ahem, photo of Jen
hanging out on the Lost set... or maybe not.

I just realized that despite our Americana theme, we've gone abroad for the waitstaff. Well, whatever makes Jen happy, right?

Though she'll be the first to say her real heroes are Marcus and Billy--the real deal!

  5. Congratulations, Jen. You are such a great role model.

The wait staff sure opened my eyes this morning. :) But who's the guy just before the Lost set? He looks so familiar yet I can't place him.

  6. Congrats, Jen! I have The Mother Road sitting here at the top of my TBR pile! I can't wait!

  7. Renee, We had some fun with photoshop a couple years back. Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by and commenting, you will be in the drawing.

Anita that is my Hugh Jackman. And he can sing.
We've got Josh Holloway, Ewan MacGregor, Hugh Grant and Hugh. It was a chore but I kept at it.

  8. Hey Anne! Great to see you. Jen should be stopping in later on her world tour.

Tomorrow is a little insider info on Jen and Saturday our official 'book review' on The Mother Road.

Also - some of our readers will have heard of the new Quilts of Love line from Abingdon and Jen has one of the first coming out in the fall!

  9. Ahhh, Sawyer, I've missed you. Sigh. For those of you who read Dandelion, that's who I had in mind when I wrote Lucio, my sexy sea captain. But then he kept talking with a southern accent...so I had to fire him.

Book sounds awesome, Jen. Love the pink streaks in the girls hair. I want pink streaks. I guess this is the first time I've seen the cover big enough to notice them.

Congrats on your career. Things are moving and grooving now.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Well, I say go for the pink streaks, Dina. I'd like streaks too but I may have crossed that line of looking ridiculous with color streaks. (i'm fighting the natural 'highlights' all the time)

No, I didn't know about Sea Captain and Sawyer. That makes him even more dangerous. Yowsah!

  11. I'd like pink streaks in my hair, too, Dina. I love that particular shade on the cover model's hair.

I'll take guy in the silly hat, please. Oh, wait! Be still my heart. Who is that dashing guy after silly hat guy? Is that Ewan McGregor? Oh, my. He is perfect. :-)

  12. Actually Ewan is the first one looking quite serious. I wouldn't have recognized him either but I really liked that photo. then Hugh Grant (making me realize part of his charm are those beautiful soft eyes) and then, looking spectacular is Hugh Jackman.

    Maybe I should label them?
see how we are? still teenagers at heart!

  13. Deb, I thought that was Hugh Jackman, but he looks different here. I really enjoyed his singing and dancing at the awards ceremony that year, but...

perhaps I'm thinking of a movie where he looked like this, but I didn't realize who it was.

Care to tell us where this pic is from?

  14. congrats on the book release! it sounds interesting. ever since the animated Cars movie, I like reading/seein things about route 66. it seems to be an interesting chunk of Americana history.

i am particularly enjoying the eye candy provided by the diners of route 66. (mr jackman is my favorite server).

would love to have a chance to win a copy since my current reading budget is limited. i so enjoy the Ladies of the Inkwell.

  15. What? and implicate myself? LIke I trawl the internet for photos of good looking guys or something? At my age?

As you've all heard me claim HJ as 'my boyfriend' let's leave it at that. He's a happily married man and today I look old enough to be his mother.

Though, I can see using this photo as a template for a future character. yes. my own Duke of Margarine.

Seriously, it's from the google photos and the site was some celebrity site which I am sure scarfed it from some other source. Fair game I guess...

  16. Hey DebH!
we particularly like Mr. Jackman and having you as one of our best 'commenters'.

I know Jen A is alive and well (she made her move on Words with Friends last night) and will be here when she comes in from Salmon Fishing or shopping Rodeo Drive or whatever she does when not writing or sitting here on the internet all day like some people I know...

I did have the excitement of traveling route 66 for awhile on one of my jaunts through NM, AZ and CA.
I know someone who really enjoys the history of it and has many books on the subject, plus did much of the route. Those clever signs and road markers have made it to many Travel Channel and Food Network shows!

  17. Hey gals! What a great way to start my day...especially since I've been in Airports & on planes since 8pm last night! Am heading back from Alaska and am now writing on my Kindle Fire from the Seattle airport.

BTW, Deb let me know that TMR is available free on Kindle today. Surprise!

I'll be back later to partake of more goodies...and the treats they're serving :)

  18. Attention Attention.
the Jen is in the house!!

Jet setting Jen will be stopping by in a bit.

And now I can spill the beans (pinto beans today) and tell you all that THE MOTHER ROAD is FREE TODAY ON KINDLE. Download, and read and share!

If you prefer a 'real book' (ha ha) the trade paperback will be sent to one commenter this week! With all our lurkers, you have a great chance to win if you comment.

  20. The guy with the scruffy face is Hugh Jackman? Are you sure? Maybe my screen is showing them out of order because I thought the first guy was Josh H. Maybe I'm just totally out of it. I thought Hugh Jackman was the one looking all serious. I need to go check again. Excuse me for a while...

    ReplyDelete
  21. I've made a mess of this. The VERY FIRST one is Josh... Sawyer from Lost.

the FIRST of the three below is Ewan, then Hugh G, then Hugh J. I labeled.
sorry Suzie. I should know better than to mess with something so important as eye candy.

  22. Oh my goodness, I love our release parties. As I type, Ewan McG is offering me a warm smile and a chocolate milkshake from the Stuckey's rest stop.

I am so happy for Jen! TMR is fabulous! I devoured this book.

I wouldn't mind pink streaks in my hair, either. Here's a secret: I like the girl's hair in Scott Pilgrim vs the World. Wouldn't mind having it. Blunt cut, dark with colored tips.

Hooray for Jen! Congratulations, dear sister!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I am seriously ready to get on board with colored hair, and I dont mean light golden brown. But... I'm already pushing the limit on ridiculous as my youth is in shreds.
I just loaded FaceTime and seeing myself in the onscreen camera... frightening.

In my head I think I'm about 35 and twenty years wiser.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh, congratulations! I hope the book is a HUGE success.

And what a yummy-- er, um, tasty-- uh, I mean, thought provoking post!

    >:)

  25. Ladies, this is such fun! I wish we were all in the same room, eating snacks and discussing the merits of the wait staff ;) Deb, you did a FAB job with the hiring... Josh, Ewan, Hugh, and Hugh are right a the top of my list of fantasy men I'd like to bring me a tray of mini-eclairs!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks DeAnna. Those peach shortcakes do look yummy! You're right.

Oh Jen wouldn't that be fun? Wait staff or not it would be wonderful to have a get together.

I cant wait to start this book!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jen, I got a rel kick out of seeing this book in the latest Cokesbury catalog. :) Congratulations!

(And what does it say about me that the knitted hat got more of my attention than the guy wearing it? I'm about to go reverse-engineer the pattern.)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I love it, Kristen! I want to see a picture of that hat when you have it done :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ladies, you've all made my day. I'm happy as a little clam (happier, actually, because I'm not sure how happya a clam can really be). Thanks so much for hanging out and celebrating with me today. You rock!

    ReplyDelete
  30. But why isn't Richard Armitage in there?

    That HAS to be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Because he is waiting for your next release DeAnna.

  32. Ahhhh.
