I know my life has been improved because of writers. Has your life been changed through the written word? If yes, how is your life different? Are you different as a person because of something you read? What book aside from the Bible has had the greatest impact on you?
Influenced by books like The Secret Garden and The Little
Princess, Lisa Karon Richardson’s early books were heavy on boarding schools and
creepy houses. Now that she’s (mostly) all grown-up she still loves a healthy
dash of adventure and excitement in any story she creates, even her real-life
story. She’s been a missionary to the Seychelles and Gabon and now that she and
her husband are back in America, they are tackling a brand new adventure,
starting a daughter-work church in a new city. Her next novel, The Magistrate’s Folly, is coming February 5th from Barbour Publishing.
ha ha. Isn't that the truth!
ReplyDeleteWriters give us all the good lines.
Writers have taken me into history, other countries, other cultures and put in the shoes of a thousand other people so that I may see life outside my own head and heart.
Deb, that's a great summation. When I read a really good book, for a time I'm not just immersed in that world, I'm seeing the real world through a different prism too. It is the absolute closest we humans get to magic I think.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely cannot imagine my life without books. My earliest memories are of my parents reading to me. Books sparked my imagination. I also believe books helped me try to look at people from the inside and imagine what they might be thinking or feeling. I think books are a gift from God.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right too, Suzie. Books are a gift from God. They make our world more beautiful for sure!
