Bridge of Gold was an excellent addition to Doors of the Past series. Ms. Woodhouse did a stellar job connecting two timelines around a treasure from an old ship to the building of the Golden Gate Bridge. Kayla, a present day diver and archeologist is hired by the Mayor of San Francisco to investigate a sunken ship found by Steven, another diver, who is restoring the bridge.
The mystery ramps up when they find treasure and bones! The story goes back and forth from the present to 1933 when construction on the bridge began. The author plots an interesting and believable tale as she imparts fascinating information about San Francisco and what lies beneath. In both timelines, a greedy villain is preventing the search for gold from going forward and puts divers in danger.
I was kept guessing as to who was the one behind the dastardly deeds. As with her other historicals, Ms. Woodhouse did extensive research and the result is an engaging story with a solid faith thread.
