PAULA'S REVIEW:
Gothic drama fills the pages of this Regency story that has scenes in 1813 America and progresses to England as Simon Fancourt returns to his family estate. Misconceptions are the rule rather than the exception but stubbornness further complicates the relationship of Simon and Georgina Whitmore who were promised in marriage through a decision made by their parents.
This author gives us a complex story with many villainous characters and some who only later show their true colors. Ms. Linder kept me guessing at the resolution, which did not turn out the way I supposed. The tension was palpable and it certainly kept me turning pages.
With a slight faith thread and a perplexing romance, this story had a dramatic atmosphere of intrigue and mystery.

REBECCA'S REVIEW:
"He was not a man to be forgotten. Ever."
Lovely and accomplished Georgina Whitmore held onto her heart for what those around her thought were too many years; her teen-age betrothal having been broken without a word, and the man she could not forget vanishes for years until . . . Simon Fancourt returns back to England with two young children in tow. Much changed, Simon is determined to seek justice for his beloved wife's murder; however, like many worthy causes, the task proves to be much harder and far more dangerous than he ever imagined. Shocked by his now deceased father's declaration that in order to acquire his inheritance he must restore his betrothal to Miss Whitmore, Georgina is thrust into the middle of a decision that she never thought to accept . . . or deny.
With precision pace and passion, these deeply complex characters are driven to the end of all things past and the beginning of all things new; their perseverance a testament to the wild entanglements that threaten to strangle life's very breath out of them . . . will they . . . can they . . . finally break free.
An outstanding novel by a strong, vibrant, emerging voice in Regency Romance!
