Victoria Bylin has written a book that will grab your interest and cause you to become deeply invested in her story. Shane Riley was once a strong Christian. Then an injury to his knee resulted in him not being able to play professional baseball anymore and he drifts so very far away from God. He is trying to find his little sister who was removed from the foster home that sheltered them both. He has talked viciously to her and needs to make it right, but it seems as if she has fallen off the earth.

MJ Townsend is on her way to Refuge, Wyoming with her son Cody to try and sell her grandfather's house to earn money to keep her and Cody alive. She is also battling a relentless virus that causes cervical cancer, one that has the potential to destroy, if not her life, then all her dreams for the future.

Somehow, these two meet and Shane rents MJ's garage apartment and begins teaching in the school where MJ's mother is the principal. Another sore spot of a relationship for her. MJ also soon discovers a link to Shane's sister.

More than one character in this story is struggling with a life altering problem and deep rooted pain. All have made choices at one time in their life that have caused them to regret their words and actions. These choices have affected their lives in ways they wish were not there, but regret causes these mistakes to take on a life of their own. However, there is one light that can shine through even the darkest of lives and bring back joy to any life. That is Jesus Christ and Bylin has allowed that light to shine brightly in this book. Expect tears to fall and your heart to rejoice when reading this one. And there is at least one more to come! I can't wait for Daisy's story. Bravo! Highly recommended.
