SHADOWS AT DUSK (Missing in Alaska #2) by Elizabeth Goddard, Reviewed by Rebecca and Paula #ReleaseDay

PAULA'S REVIEW:
Alaska, where it is easy for someone to disappear. For bush pilot Carrie James, her life depends on staying under the radar. She is hiding from her past and those who would see her dead. Detective Trevor West is looking for his missing sister. After a year of dead end clues, he finally has something to go on. Since Carrie knows the area of Alaska well, she agrees to fly Trevor to several spots depicted in photos his sister left for him.

In such a rugged and remote area beauty is all around and danger is not far away. Ms. Goddard excels in awe-inspiring descriptions of the scenery and exciting plot lines that hardly leave you time to catch your breath.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” from Isaiah is a verse that Carrie came to rely on as she experienced many trials. Both she and Trevor kept their prayers frequent. The attraction progressed somewhat quickly, although Carrie and Trevor both had trust issues which prevented declaring themselves too soon.

The geological aspect was interesting and the direction the search took was surprising.

Fasten your seatbelts-It’s going to be a bumpy flight!

REBECCA'S REVIEW:
"His desperation nearly broke her heart. But she no longer had a heart, so how was that possible . . . "

Detective Trevor West's determination to find out what happened to his sister was admirable, but bush pilot Carrie James was just as determined not to get emotionally involved. Yes, she could fly him to a number of obscure locations where there were people who might have interacted with Jennifer, but the man was on a mission that was not hers . . . until her own world was violently rocked by yet another tragedy, meaning the handsome detective might be the one person in the entire state of Alaska who could help her, neither of them ever imagining how the two cases might possibly intersect.

"I'm not going to leave anything unsaid . . . I wish we'd met under different circumstances."

Wow! This story travels in a myriad of different directions very, very quickly, the author doing a stellar job of managing the ebbs and flows until the very end, when the only possible speed is overdrive. Lives depended on it! Fans of romantic suspense will be truly and rightfully impressed. (as they breathe a sigh of relief at the end!)

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you." Isaiah 43:2
