Knight Liam Kerr has come to claim his rightful place as Duke from a usurper but must do it in stealth. To complicate matters, Ella has agreed to marry evil Fenwick in order to escape her aunt and uncle and ensure the care of several orphan children who have her heart.
The author has captured history and made it come alive. There is danger, romance and a bit of wit and whimsy thanks to Betha, mum to Liam since she rescued him as a babe.
Ms Dragomir teaches faith lessons in the person of Father Timothy. Liam and Ella seek justice and mature spiritually through difficult circumstances. Romance is hard-won.
Trigger warnings. The book does contain attempted assaults on women, sword fights but not too graphic. This is Elizabethan England after all.
