When times are difficult, stressed, or out-of-control, Psalm 46 is a powerful reminder of God's love, might, and infinite care for us. May His Word bless our spirits and remind us of His grace today.Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we wil not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; He lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord Almighty is with us,
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Come and see the works of the Lord, the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
He burns the shields with fire.
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
The Lord Almighty is with us,
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
You know, Susie, I read this in the morning and came back to it tonight and it reads much differently. I'm tired ( happy tired) and though I'm not feeling troubled, I'm reminded of the security of knowing this Psalm is true. I can go to God and feel loved, protected, cared for, surrounded. I can rest.
ReplyDeleteIt's just sinking in better tonight because I'm ready to be still.
thanks for being a pinch hitter! Beautiful post.
Deb, you're so sweet to share your thoughts, especially when I had so few to go along with this in the heat of the moment! But I love this Psalm and relish in God's words, "Be still and know that I am God..." I need to just rest and trust in His abundant grace, power, and mercy.
ReplyDeleteThank you Suzanne, for this posting this Psalm. It contains such powerful imagery. so much energy and direction in the description of God's power and grace. Yet, in the midst of all the commotion, requires you to "be still and know".
ReplyDeleteGod is good.
Amen, Samantha! God is good indeed. Isn't it incredible that He is so mighty and loves us so? And He wants us to know Him. I grapple with that all of the time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by.
