I Can't Bear It! I Ain't Lion!

 by Jill Nutter

I think all you visitors to the Inkwell know that I was blessed with a three book contract. As I'm fond of saying, "God knocked my socks off!" :)
With this blessing comes a lot of work. Now, don't get the wrong idea. I'm so happy for this opportunity, but I have to go find my balance. My writing balance. So I am going to take some time off from blogging. I'll stop in now and then to comment and I might even surprise you all once and awhile but I have to do what God has led me to do and that's write the next book in my series.

Just like Rick Castle must write and research so must I. (You didn't think I'd disappear without plugging my favorite show now, did ya?) Now if I could only get one of those WRITER vests.

Because I work full-time during the day as a counselor and have a busy family like many other writers I've got to set priorities. And as much as I love Inkyland I must learn how to manage two careers. I have to admit, it's kind of fun having a pen name because I feel like I can change hats from counselor to writer; a definitive boundry so to speak. Does that make sense.

Don't be surprised if you see a Jillian Kent website launch in the near future (I'm sure my girlfriends here will keep you posted) and I may try a little blogging as Jillian, we'll see. But the focus is on getting the work done. So it is with some sadness I leave you for awhile, but I'll be back. Or as Arnold says: "I'LL BE BACK." Did you catch the deeper tone? :)

PhotobucketI ask that you pray for me and Jillian Kent during this time of transition. Pray that my words flow and find their way to the page in some semblance of story that will knock your socks off in the future.

Blessings to each of you as you pursue your dreams.

This one's for the girls, for the girls who love to write, the girls who love to read, and especially for these girls I have the pleasure of calling my Inky Sisters. See ya round the Inkwell.

  1. Jill, I'm still awed! I've seen your posts for years on FHL and I think this news is so awesome! Congrats! I hope you find the perfect balance. :-)

  2. Hi Jessica!

Okay Jilly Jillian. I see you took my suggestion seriously.

I better start seeing some more Ravensmoore up for critique. I need to know what happens next!

Jill's books have lots of action and the occasional dead body. Love it.

And, we'll be watching and waiting for you to pop in with a post occasionally.
Congratulations again on your contract! YEEEEEHAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW

  3. We'll miss you of course, Jill, but this is so exciting for you. I love the way you wrapped everything up so nicely before your sabbatical from blogging.

And I'm not a country fan, but I do love this song. So thanks. It's playing in the background right now.

  4. Jill/Jillian,

A writing career isn't for the faint hearted, and you have the most courageous heart I've encounted in writersville yet!

Know that we're behind 200% and so excited to share in your journey.

  5. I'm so glad you'll still be around so that it won't be total, Jilly withdrawal!

We're so proud of you. Can't wait to hear of all the real life adventures that are awaiting you!

  6. Sniff ... Excuse me while I wipe the tears from my eyes.

Jilly-Jill, I'm so happy for you, but I am going to miss you so much. I'm praying for you to have much success, and I'm looking forward to reading your books.

Much love to you, my friend.

  7. Good morning everyone!
Jessica, thanks so much for the congrats and please remember those prayers to help me find my "perfect balance." All those years of prayer support through very difficult time definetly helped get me to this point in my career.

I will work be working toward getting some more pages up for critique. I'm already thinking about trying to do a post from Blueridge the end of next month! :)

  8. Jill, congrats again on Jillian's three-book deal!!! I think you're wise to take time to adjust to your new life as a soon-to-be-published author living with deadlines. I wish you well as you make the transition.

  9. Hi Dina!
Not a country music fan? That's okay, I love you anyway. I don't like all country music but I am a Martina McBride fan. :)

    Hey Wenda,
Thanks for the compliment! I guess in this business we all have to be courageous. Not for the faint hearted at all. Hugs all around.

  10. Jill,
So happy for you! And, I too want one of those "writer" vests like Castle wears.

Best wishes while you attend to the demands of being a contracted writer!

    Christi Corbett

  11. Hi Lisa,
Ah, real life adventures. I never seem to be at a loss for those. :) I'll keep you posted.

You just e-mail me whenever you get a chance. I'll do the same!

  12. Oh Jill, we just decided last night. I am going to Blueridge. So I don't have to miss you too much since I'll get to see you in person there.

  13. Jill, you know how happy I am for you and this exciting path God's called you to take, even though I'm going to miss you terribly! Congratulations again on the amazing three-book deal. I cannot wait until I hold your books in my hands.

I'll continue to pray for your balancing act as a writer, mom, wife, and counselor. Oh, and if you find a "writer" vest, get me one too! I'd wear it out in public and everything ;)

  14. Hi Keli!
So nice to see your cheerful face here. As you can tell I'm surrounded by cheerful. That's what makes being a part of this crew so much fun!
This book deal has just amazed me and I'm so grateful to God, my family and friends. I had a blast when you interviewed me last summer, Keli.

Hi there! You keep in touch okay. And I'll try to do the same. We've got to find someone who can make Writer vests. They could probably sell a million of them.:)

  15. Hey Jill,
this morning the video wouldn't load for me so I'm glad I came back to check. I'm so excited about what is in store for your future.

By the way, I'm feeling pretty good about Dina's too. I just have this feeling. So glad you two will both be at BlueRidge. I'll get there one of these years...

What a great group we have here, and in the greater Christian fiction community!

  16. Dina,
Yippee! It will be so fun to get to know you better. Blueridge here we come!

Thank you! Thank you! I can't wait to hold one of those books in my hands either. Seems like a far away dream. And I so appreciate the prayers for balance too. What is it with us Castle fans and that vest! Just got have it.

Hey if you gals want to read something interesting today, go visit
where Mark Terry is talking about money.

  17. Deb,
I just love a good conference. It's a wonderful motivator and the best place to network and learn. Now I know Blueridge doesn't sell the CD's, at least I'm pretty sure they don't, but if you can invest in a conference MP3 from ACFW or Mt. Hermon. You get to hear everyone teach. I'm sure we'll be seeing you soon at a conference in the future.

  18. Good Night Everyone! See ya later!

  19. Jilly, I'm so excited for you. A 3 book deal - what a splash in the publishing world! If you're gonna get your feet wet anyway, then dive in! Yay!

I'm so glad you've decided not to break away from us altogether. It's like we get to keep you close.

LOL - I have this image of putting you up on a shelf.

I'll be praying for showers of blessings on your and your writing.

  20. Enjoy your new blessing! i'd be thrilled to take a break from blogging for those purposes!

  21. Jilly, I'm so excited for you as you embark on this next great stage of your life. I can hardly wait to hear about your adventures in writing, publishing, marketing... What a ride it will be!

  22. We know you aren't gone, and that alone will make your absence bearable! That and the fact we can all say "we knew her when..." : )
    Blessings, dear Jill!
