As we celebrate the annual rotation of the Earth around the sun today, may we remember something incredibly important to our continued progress and growth as humans and as Christians:
LET. IT. GO.
Whatever held you back in 2011 (or before), whatever caused you to stumble, whatever rubbed you the wrong way, whatever made you angry or offended, self-conscious or insecure, guilty or filled with dread... today is the perfect day to let it go. Release it into the hands of your heavenly Father to be drowned in the sea of forgetfulness as far as the east is from the west.
"For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
As far as the east is from the west, so far far has He removed our transgressions from us." Psalm 103:11-12 NKJV
"Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea." Mic 7:18-19 NIV
Then, release yourself from the shackles of your own unforgiveness. Oh sure, you know you need to forgive those who transgress against you, but when was the last time you forgave YOURSELF, on purpose, for all the things YOU do that annoy, aggravate, embarrass and disappoint YOU? Hmm. God forgave you. Who do you think you are to refuse to forgive yourself?
Today, the first day of a new year (and on a Sunday to boot!), take all the junk that has hindered you and held you back and let it go. Your future is not determined by your past.
Happy new year! May it be the best yet!
