Lillian
has her world upended when she inherits a house and half of a business
from her father, who she was told was deceased. Her mother, who has
plans for the money for herself , sends Lillian to the small town to
settle the estate. However, Lillian meets relatives she grows fond of
and decides to stay and open a business in the house. Surprises are in
store during remodeling as well as an attraction to Jonah, a friend of
her cousin Alma and family.
Crazy happenings,
shady dealings and dangers abound. Both Lillian and Jonah rely on God to
show them the solution to their problems. The characters are relatable,
the story intriguing and the romance slow and steady. The question is:
who can they trust to uncover the truth?
Comfort
and wisdom come from Jonah’s mother Melanie: “God only gives us one
step at a time, and all we can do is try to make that step with faith.”
Recommended for historical fiction fans who like a little suspense with their romance.
