KIM'S REVIEW
I have been waiting to read In This Moment by Gabrielle Meyer since reading the last word of the series’ first book, When the Day Comes. Let me just say this, it was totally worth the wait and I’m anxiously awaiting the next book! Please tell me there’s a next book!
There are so many things I want to say about this story - or should I say these stories? I thought three timelines might get confusing or that I would be unsatisfied at the end because of the timeline Maggie chose, but that was not the case! I loved all three of the timelines! There are so many plot points I want to talk about, but I can’t, because they would all be massive spoilers. What I can say is that I was flipping the pages as fast as I could because I needed to get to the end to find out which path Maggie chose, but at the same time, I did not want this book to end. I was thoroughly engaged in this story from the first page and every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was wrong.
I am really really hoping there will be another story in this series. With this series, Gabrielle Meyer has become an auto buy author for me! Do not miss this series.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. The faith thread is light. 5 stars!!
PAULA'S REVIEW
Stunning story that builds on the first book. This is about Margaret/Maggie/Meg who is the daughter of Libby from When The Day Comes. Such a unique concept of time crossing in several different eras. This connects three pivotal events in American history: the Civil War, Pearl Harbor and the 2001 attacks. Ms. Meyer shows us how Maggie navigates three different years and what a difficult time she has because she knows she has to choose only one path on her 21st birthday. Each timeline was meticulous in detail and highly believable. The author conveyed the tumultuous emotions that the heroine had in her many encounters across time. I was exhausted for her and though I guessed which time she would choose, I really enjoyed the journey as she interacted with her parents, siblings and love interests in each era. And there were several surprises that I did not anticipate.
Through it all, Maggie truly wanted to choose what God had for her and realized that no matter which path she chose, her calling was to help people heal.
Ms. Meyer has proven she is a talented and polished writer.
If you want a unique experience, I highly recommend this book.
BackCover Blurb:
Maggie inherited a gift from her time-crossing parents that allows her to live three separate lives in 1861, 1941, and 2001. Each night, she goes to sleep in one time period and wakes up in another. Until she turns twenty-one, when she will have to forfeit two of those lives--and everyone she knows in them--forever.
In 1861, Maggie is the daughter of a senator at the outbreak of the Civil War, navigating a capital full of Southern spies and wounded soldiers. In 1941, she is a navy nurse, grappling with her knowledge of the future when she joins a hospital ship going to Pearl Harbor. And in 2001, she's a brilliant young medical student, fulfilling her dream of becoming a surgeon.
While Maggie has sworn off romance until she makes her final choice, an intriguing man tugs at her heart in each era, only complicating the impossible decision she must make, which looms ever closer. With so much on the line, how can Maggie choose just one life to keep and the rest to lose?
