FORGIVEN AGAIN by Gina Holder, Reviewed by Trixi Oberembt #ReleaseDay

This is the first book by Gina Holder I’ve read. I found it easy to get lost in with plenty of action to keep my interest. Though I didn’t read “No Greater Love”, the first book in the “Shadows over Whitman” series, I don’t feel I missed anything since the author gave enough past details.

I really like Ryan’s character and how honest he is to himself. He knows he’s made past mistakes that’s affected his relationship with the daughter he didn’t know he had. Even though he’s a pastor, he still struggles with very human emotions and making the correct decisions. I love how he allows the Lord to lead him in the right path. He’s also still in love with Kathleen, aka Annie, but doesn’t know how to win her over again.

Kathleen is an ambitious Mayor who quickly climbed the political ladder, following in her father’s footsteps. She no longer has the faith she once clung to after losing her daughter and a brutal marriage year ago. Some call her cold-hearted as she steps over others to get her way. I had some trouble connecting with her at first because of her brash personality. She also has enemies that will do anything to make her quit the political campaign. The added layer of danger was exciting and kept me turning pages!
One thing I love seeing in a story is a character’s redemption, and Kathleen was one who transformed the most in this book. She was extremely hard against God and had so much unforgiveness in her heart that it made her blind to the person she has become. She lost her way for a long time, but when God got a hold of her….wow…the change felt genuine to me as a reader! I also enjoyed watching how each character grew and changed, making the story have the kind of depth I can appreciate.

I think this book had everything in it for me; a little danger, political intrigue, learning to forgive, forming family bonds, second chance at love, character growth, and a strong faith theme. All that rolled together made this an enjoyable read!

*I received a complimentary copy from the author and was not obligated to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own. *

Will they risk their lives to keep a secret?

Annie Staten, now known as Kathleen Phillips, has dreamed of pursuing a political career and following in her father’s footsteps. But Richard was a hated man during his tenure as governor and now his enemies will stop at nothing to prevent his daughter from winning the election.

Ryan Whitestone has loved Annie since high school, but his heart is broken by the woman she has become. When the daughter she gave up for adoption comes back into her life, can he help her heal from her pain and remind her of who she used to be?

Will Kathleen be able to forgive herself, put the past behind her, and find love again?

The continuing story of No Greater Love.
