"Do you think it possible two people can fall in love a second time?"
Clare Danner's future and the future of her beautiful two year old daughter depended on it. The one person who could testify on her behalf is incapacitated, leaving it up to Clare to prevent a vindictive earl from reclaiming his granddaughter and the inheritance that she represents; the man has put Clare on a tenuous timeline . . . one that she is terribly afraid that Captain Marcus Weatherford is not capable of meeting. How did her life become so complicated? . . . it started with a proposal in the garden that wasn't hers.
Watching the man she loved ask another woman to marry him had not only broken Clare's heart but wounded her spirit. Even Marcus' pleas to trust him no matter what appearances seemed to indicate, were not enough. And now? The man in question has returned home from a mysterious trip with two serious head wounds and no recollection of what transpired, or of Claire . . . while still clinging to the elegant woman claiming to be his fiancee. When asked to oversee Marcus' convalescence on his family's estate, Kate can only use her skills as a military hospital orderly and . . . pray . . . for it seems that Marcus' heart remembers something about her, even when his head can not. As the imposed deadline steadily approaches, will Clare be forced to make a decision that will destroy them both?
How glorious to be able to enjoy an entire story about the practically legendary Captain Marcus Weatherford. Honorable? Yes. Brave? Certainly. Dedicated? Absolutely. Fearful? . . . Well you may be surprised to learn that he did have fears . . . in particular one . . . that nearly forced him out of rhythm with the cadence of his heart: Clare.
Fabulous romance!
