Welcome back to Fairplay, Colorado and the return of Astrid, little sister to Greta Nilsson from A Cowboy for keeps. Astrid is all grown up now and is an honest to goodness doctor. 8 years after she left, she answers an advertisement for a partnership with Doctor Logan Steele. Astrid wants to be with her family and seeks healing from tuberculosis, a disease that was still a mystery at this time but responds to the climate found in Fairplay.
This was an interesting story of re-found love and the perceptions of the day towards women doctors. After a decidedly tension filled re-acquaintance, things settle down and Astrid and Logan make a bargain. Logan is a swoony hero with a lot of patience as he shows confidence in Astrid and her abilities.
The romance does sizzle. I would consider this a clean read with an underlying Christian world view.
I have enjoyed the Cowboy books, so lets see what the Cowgirls can get up to!
