Mistletoe Memories Treasure Hunt!

Sometimes the owner of the old house on Schooley's Mountain finds things stored in the attic. It's your job to collect those items as you travel to each blog on the Mistletoe Memories Treasure Hunt. Read the post about the featured novella and see what the unique giveaways are. You will find the item on the antique post card further down the page.

Giveaways are available on each post and the grand prize is the lovely 12.5" x 18" Christmas banner pictured at the left.

Mistletoe Memories
Barbour Publishing, September 2013
by Lisa Karon Richardson, and Jennifer AlLee, Carla Olson Gade, and Gina Welborn
For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. ~Hebrews 3:4

One of America’s earliest summer resorts began atop the majestically wooded Schooley’s Mountain where the mecca of chalybeate springs (or “magic water”) drew visitors from near and far. Eventually the magic water disappeared, but the memories remained. Folks who live there tell the stories they heard from their grandparents who heard them from their grandparents. The four stories in MISTLETOE MEMORIES cover the almost 200 years after the house was built and center around a house that became a refuge that became an orphanage that became a home.

Midnight Clear by Lisa Karon Richardson:

Olympia Paris has never had a family outside the orphanage where she grew up. After "graduating" from the orphanage, she stayed on to teach and has now inherited the task of running the home. On the brink of another lean Christmas, Olympia thinks she's content with her lot. She’d just really like to give the children something to celebrate. Then Theodore Carstairs arrives at Schooley’s Mountain. He had been adopted years ago. But now he's back, with big plans to revitalize the town by rebuilding the resort. He’s intent on playing Father Christmas to most of the town. It's too bad he'll have to tear down the orphanage to do it.

Author's favorite character:
Sorry, but trying to name my favorite of these characters is like trying to name my favorite child. I love them all! I love Olympia's spunk and her passion for the children in her care. I love Teddy's journey. And I love all six of the orphans who make up Olympia's family.

Giveaway:
A tin of Harney and Sons
Hot Cinnamon Tea. (It's awesome and just perfect for curling up with a Christmasy anthology!)

  1. Ah! a blog hopping treasure hunt! please let us know who the winners are, Lisa!

The book is out now in stores - Walmart for instance and I think readers are going to jump on this cover! My Seekerville (and upstate NY neighbor) friend Ruth Logan Herne is extolling the pleasures of Christmas fiction which explains why they go on the market starting in October. Readers love them and they want more!

Sadly, i'm here with my wet blanket to say that while I LOVED these novellas, I am happy to not rush the holidays otherwise.

And - horticulturalist that I am, and minor science nerd - my thoughts on mistletoe is that I'd love to see it growing wild. Only for the curiosity as it is a unwanted plant! not nice.

  2. Yeah, mistletoe is actually a parasite, isn't it Deb? Hmm, this conversation devolved quickly!

  3. Mistletoe is indeed a parasite. Eww. I much prefer to think of it as an excuse to smooch.

You will indeed have to let us know who wins! The tea time prize looks delightful to me. I'm cold this morning and could use a cuppa!

  6. I read this post this morning and it left me with a feel good feeling. So I clicked the link and went over to Jen's blog to leave a comment.

For whatever reason, I read the post before her MM one and left a comment on that one. LOL But then I zipped somewhere else and somewhere else and worked all day and just realized now that I never got back to this one. sigh.

So the blog hop is on tomorrow again? That's good... maybe I'll try again in the morning. :)
