ALWAYS LOOK TWICE by Elizabeth Goddard, Reviewed by Paula Shreckhise and Winnie Thomas

PAULA'S REVIEW:
Always Look Twice by Elizabeth Goddard is the second book in the Uncommon Justice series about the McKade brothers.

This story chronicles oldest brother Heath, a former Green Beret and presently owner of a guest ranch and a part-time deputy.

Harper Reynolds and sister Emily are touring National Parks in Emily’s vintage, refurbished Airstream. Harper is taking a break from her job as a crime scene photographer at the suggestion of her therapist. The last stop on their trip is a town they lived in as children, before their father was murdered. Harper, while photographing a grizzly bear, sees something horrifying through her camera lens.

Now someone is out to silence her. With the help and protection of her childhood friend, Heath McKade, she tries to put the pieces of the crime together and keep safe.

This was an extremely exciting book. The scene where the Airstream is barreling down a switchback is utterly terrifying. Ms. Goddard certainly kept me riveted to the story. The scenery is breathtaking and so is the suspense. The details of law enforcement and crime scene are well done. She has done thorough research. Get set for a wild ride. There are surprises in store and a great romance.

There is more to come in the next book about the remaining brother, Liam, just returned from several years undercover.

Highly recommended for fans of exceptional Christian Suspense.
I give this 5 stars.

WINNIE'S REVIEW:
With nonstop action, heart-pounding suspense, and lots of twists and turns, Always Look Twice is a gripping, emotionally charged book sure to please those who enjoy clean romantic suspense. The colorful, well-drawn characters and the setting in the Teton area of Wyoming were especially interesting to me. I’ve spent a lot of time in that area including a couple of days right before reading this book. The main characters, Harper and Heath were engaging and multi-layered, but they both also had broken pasts they hadn’t entirely come to terms with. I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop and healing begin.

It was interesting to learn more about crime scene photographers and their techniques in processing the scene of a crime. With bombs going off in various places and characters getting killed, the suspense just kept ramping up and kept me guessing. Uplifting messages of faith, forgiving yourself and others, and hope are woven through the story and give added depth and dimension to it.

This is the second book in Goddard’s Uncommon Justice series, but it is easily read alone. I’m assuming that the next book will be Liam’s story, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s been up to. 4.5 stars

Back Cover Blurb:
At the advice of her therapist, homicide survivor Harper Reynolds has traded her job as a crime scene photographer for a more peaceful life taking photographs of the natural world. But her hopes for a life surrounded by the serenity of the outdoors are dashed when she inadvertently captures a murder being committed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She flees the scene in fear--and loses the camera.

Former Green Beret Heath McKade is a reserve deputy in an understaffed county who has been called in to protect Harper, a childhood friend he is surprised to see back in the area. When Harper learns that the sheriff's department can't find any evidence of the murder she witnessed, she is determined to do what she can to see that justice is done. What neither Harper nor Heath could know is how many explosive secrets from the past will be exposed--or how deeply they will fall for each other.

In this suspenseful page-turner, bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard keeps you on the edge of your seat as you discover that uncommon justice lies just on the other side of fear.
