A real page turner exciting and not over done!
Wow! What a nail biter. I have long been a fan of Lynette Eason. What is special about this book is that it is completely believable and exciting but not over-the-top with unrealistic scenarios.
Penny the chopper pilot is very smart and has even rescued FBI agent Holton Satterfield. They meet again when a serial killer is loose in a remote area on a mountain. Penny has to make an emergency landing and is not aware of the menace.
Penny and Holt and their coworkers are likable. Some are Christians and I appreciate that the author shows their faith as natural. The villain was very creepy and some scenes were disturbing--I liked that Penny was strong and she used her brain as much as her defensive moves. “Things were clicking in her brain, little pieces of information swimming around up there, but she had no idea how to put it all together.” Well, She did it! Just in time. There were some surprises at the end including a second problem that Holt was working on.
A fantastic start to a new series: Extreme Measures. Ms. Eason keeps proving to be a favorite.

REBECCA'S REVIEW:
"Today was not going to be the day they died - not if she had anything to say about it."
First lines are often the best lines, and this book begins with a dead ringer. (pun intended; fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, someone does end up in the morgue after the first few chapters) Tremendously relieved to have saved the life of her patient, EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton never expected to encounter an escaped criminal in the process, much less cross paths with FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield. Theirs is a friendship that has skirted around the edges of "could-be-more", more times than she could count. Needless to say, it proved to be a short-lived reunion, for while their corpse isn't exactly talking, the man has managed to raise a surprising number of questions about who he really is. The case is far from over.
Turn the page and . . . let the chase begin. With a deranged killer on the loose, Penny is in for the fight, or flight, of her life. It's a good thing Holt is a praying man, for she's going to need all the help she can get, along with a miracle or two, or three.
BackCover Blurb:
EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton is used to high stress situations, but being forced to land on a mountain in a raging storm with a critical patient--and a serial killer on the loose--tests her skills and her nerve to the limit. She survives with FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield's help. But she's not out of the woods yet.
In the ensuing days, Penny finds herself under attack. And when news reaches Holt that he may not have gotten his man after all, it will take all he and Penny have to catch a killer--before he catches one of them.
Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason is back with another high-octane tale of close calls, narrow escapes, and the fight to bring a nefarious criminal to justice.
