MAYBE IT'S YOU by Candace Calvert, Reviewed by Winnie Thomas

I’ve been anxious awaiting Sloane’s story since snippets about her were included in previous books in this Crisis Team series. I must admit that she wasn’t a very likeable character prior to this book, so I wondered how the author was going to transform her into a heroine I could admire. I needn’t have worried; Candace Calvert rose to the task! She created a totally believable back story for Sloane and turned her into a realistic, relatable, and endearing character. Micah was also an amazing main character with his empathy for, and interest in, other people. With a lot of suspense caused by Sloane’s past added in, the story quickly captured my interest and kept me entranced from the first page to the last.

Maybe It’s You has a powerful message of forgiveness, hope, and redemption woven through it. It was integrated so seamlessly into the story that it didn’t feel preachy or overpowering.

I have to admit that I’m hooked on Ms Calvert’s books. Her medical background brings so much depth and dimension to her writing. I love how she integrates her knowledge into the story without making the details too technical for the average reader. Her writing is crafted intricately and so carefully written that it flows beautifully and captures the emotions of the characters perfectly.

Back Cover Blurb:
ER nurse Sloane Ferrell escaped her risky past—new name, zip code, job, and a fresh start. She’s finally safe, if she avoids a paper trail and doesn’t let people get too close. Like the hospital’s too-smooth marketing man with his relentless campaign to plaster one “lucky” employee’s face on freeway billboards.

Micah Prescott’s goal is to improve the Hope hospital image, but his role as a volunteer crisis responder is closer to his heart. The selfless work helps fill a void in his life left by family tragedy. So does a tentative new relationship with the compassionate, beautiful, and elusive Sloane Ferrell.

Then a string of brutal crimes makes headlines, summons responders . . . and exposes disturbing details of Sloane’s past.

Can hope spring from crisis?
