ANGEL WITH STEEL WINGS by Anne Greene, Reviewed by Paula Shreckhise

If you’ve ever wondered what women pilots did during WWII, this novel gives you a great picture of the role of the Women Air Force Service Pilot (WASP) program. A story with interesting details about planes and the ladies who flew them wrapped around a sweet romance between Mandy McCabe and Major Harvey Applegate.
The author transports us back to 1943 with just the right setting, complete with period songs and lingo. Mandy is a girl trying to overcome her humble beginnings and Harve, a widower with a handicapped son, is just trying to survive the war. There is an attraction there- but this is war time. Mandy muses... "She couldn’t get involved in her mission. Unfortunately, he was a dreamboat. And she had never met a man so full of heart and guts. As the old saying went, he was a man who knew how to die standing up." And Harve can’t commit to Mandy when he might not come back from Europe.

As exciting events unfold, you will learn some history and cheer on Mandy and Harve as they navigate a perilous time.

DESPITE THE OPPOSITION
